At 9 am on October 27th, the ceremony of the 104th anniversary of Hohai University and the award ceremony of "Qian Zhengying Educational Technology Fund", "Yan Kai Educational Technology Fund" and "Xu Zhilun Educational Fund" started with the grand anthem. The conference was chaired by Professor Tang Hongwu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the school, and Professor Xu Hui, the principal, delivered a speech on the development course and achievements of the university. Zhou Youhe, Professor of mechanics in our college, won the “Xu Zhilun Mechanical Award in 2019” and received the award certificate.
Xu Zhilun was a famous Chinese mechanic and mechanics educator. He graduated from Tsinghua University in 1934, obtained a master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1936, a master's degree from Harvard University in 1937. Professor Xu Zhilun was elected as an academician (member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences) in 1980. Professor Xu Zhilun has been devoted to the teaching and research of mechanics for a long time, and has made outstanding contributions to the construction and development of mechanics in China. He is one of the founders of elastic mechanics and finite element theory in China, and has made great contributions to the education and scientific research of mechanics, water conservancy and hydropower projects in China.
Professor Zhou Youhe, as a research teacher candidate, was recommended by the College of Mechanics and Materials, Hohai University. After confirmation by the evaluation committee of the Xu Zhilun Education Foundation's Expert Evaluation Committee, Hohai University issued a formal announcement and awarded the award. After Professor Zheng Xiaojing received this award in 2009, the professor of our college won the award again. During the undergraduate study of mechanics at Huazhong Institute of Technology (now Huazhong University of Science and Technology), he systematically studied the elastic mechanics textbook edited by Xu Zhilun. In the 32 years of Lanzhou University, when he first lectured on the basic courses “Elastic mechanics” 20 years ago, he changed the textbook to Xu's classic textbook. It has made a strong push for the scientific research and discipline construction of the training of mechanical talents at Lanzhou University.
Prize-winner Introduction:
Zhou Youhe, male, was born in Hanchuan, Hubei Province in May 1957. In January 1982 and December 1984, he received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Huazhong Institute of Technology (now Huazhong University of Science and Technology), and his doctorate in solid mechanics from Lanzhou University in December 1989. He is currently a professor of mechanics at Lanzhou University and a specially-appointed professor of the Yangtze River Scholars of the Ministry of Education (second batch). He has won the National Jieqing Award and the National Teaching Master Award. Professor Zhou was the head of the national natural science foundation innovation research groups, dominated the Lanzhou university mechanical solid mechanics to be included in the national key disciplines, approved mechanics and mechanics of flow of postdoctoral scientific research level and discipline doctoral degree. He used to be the first dean of the College of Civil Engineering and Mechanics of Lanzhou University, the first director of the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of Western Disaster and Environmental Mechanics, The Ministry of Education of China, the standing director of the Chinese Society of Mechanics and the deputy director of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education. Currently, Professor Zhou concurrently serves as the deputy director of the Solid Mechanics Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Mechanics, the deputy director of the Lanzhou Geophysical National Field Research and Observation Station, the deputy director of the National Ancient Mural Protection Engineering Research and Promotion Center, the analysis of industrial equipment structure of Dalian University of Technology, and Member of the Academic Committee of 3 State Key Laboratories of Vibration and Structural Mechanics and Control of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and 6 provincial and ministerial key laboratories outside the university, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Solid Mechanics and Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters
