On May 21, 2020, Lanzhou University Structural Engineering Laboratory Construction Promotion Conference was held in Qilian Hall 327 meeting room, Deputy Chief Engineer of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology Engineering Co., Ltd., Secretary and Deputy Director of Former Structure and Earthquake Resistance Laboratory Sui Yan, Lanzhou University of Technology Luo Weigang, the director of the Experimental Center of the School of Civil Engineering at the University, was invited to attend the meeting. Professor Huang Ning, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics at Lanzhou University, and more than 10 teachers including Zhang Jingshu, Zhang Yuchuan, Zhang Qiangqiang, and Wang Yajun in the department of civil engineering. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Wang Yajun.
At the meeting, our Dean, Professor Huang Ning, on behalf of the college, welcomed and thanked the two experts invited to support the construction of Structural Engineering Laboratory and civil engineering department of Lanzhou University, and hoped that the experts attending the meeting could make suggestions for the construction of the laboratory to ensure its quality.

Professor Sui Yan and Professor Weigang Luo, listened to the introduction, after combining the strategic positioning of Lanzhou University in our country's higher education and the characteristics of Lanzhou University civil engineering disciplines, emphasizes the Structural Engineering Laboratory in an important role in the development of civil engineering disciplines, from already give full play to the purchase of equipment in talents cultivation, scientific research, and social services, the role of international communication, optimizing suggestions were put forward for the design of Structural Engineering Laboratory, and staff with the participation of civil engineering discipline Structural Engineering Laboratory construction, safety management and so on are discussed.
It is generally agreed that Structural Engineering Laboratory is an important part of high-quality personnel training in a civil engineering discipline, a "booster" for high-level scientific research, and a necessary and irreplaceable prerequisite for civil engineering undergraduate professional certification in 2020 and doctoral evaluation of first-level civil engineering discipline in 2021.
The establishment of the Structural Engineering Laboratory will provide strong support for the practical training education of civil engineering undergraduates, innovation and entrepreneurship education, and graduate education of Lanzhou University. It will also provide a basic platform for the application of major projects, the output of major scientific research achievements, the introduction of high-level talents, social services, and international cooperation and exchange.
