Lanzhou University Cooperated With Minqin County to Jointly Build the “Field Observation and Research Station of Dust Storm in Qingtu Lake”

  On March 19th, 2019, director Huang Ning, secretary Li Xiaoli, deputy director Mao Guoliang and Dr. Liu Hongyou of the College of Civil Engineering and Mechanics of Lanzhou University went to Minqin County of Gansu Province and negotiated with Liu Ruiguang, deputy director of Minqin County, Yang Qingwen, director of the Forestry Bureau of Minqin County, and Sun Yaode, head of the Grassland Station, on the issues related to the joint construction of the “Field Observation and Research Station of Dust Storm in Qingtu Lake”.
  Director Huang Ning briefly introduced the research background and significance of the “Field Observation and Research Station of Dust Storm in Qingtu Lake”. He pointed out that the research on sand flow and sandstorm not only played an important role in accurate prediction of sand flow/sandstorm, but also remained an extremely complex scientific problem. Professor Huang Ning also explained the development prospects of the observation and research station.
  Deputy director Liu Ruiguang warmly welcomed them and showed his gratitude to the scientific research team of Lanzhou University for paying attention to the environmental problems in western China and conducting scientific research on related issues. Secretary Li Xiaoli expressed thanks to the Minqin County Party Committee and the county government for their consistent support to Lanzhou University.

  Head of the relevant department of Minqin County signed Agreement on Joint Construction of the “Field Observation and Research Station of Dust Storm in Qingtu Lake” by Lanzhou University and Minqin County, promising to provide long-term (over 30 years) free scientific observation sites and other infrastructure, and to ensure the normal operation of infrastructure.
  After the meeting, both sides show a positive attitude of cooperation. They hope that this meeting can lay a solid foundation for long-term cooperation between them.
