On October 11, 2019, Professor ISHIKAWA HIROHIKO and Associate Professor Wang Gonghui from the Institute of Disaster Prevention of Kyoto University in Japan visited the College of Civil Engineering and Mechanics of Lanzhou University. More than ten teachers from the three majors of the college attended the seminar. Vice President Zhang Fanyu chaired the seminar.
Professor Zhang Huyuan, the person in charge of the discipline of civil engineering at the School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, introduced the teaching and research profile of the undergraduate enrollment, graduate training, research fields, etc. of the College of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, and consulted the Institute of Disaster Prevention of Kyoto University on the training policies of international exchange of undergraduates and graduates. Prof. Zhang also recalls the experience of studying and living at the Institute of Disaster Prevention of Kyoto University.etc.
Professor ISHIKAWA introduced the orientation, function, and scale of the Institute of Disaster Prevention of Kyoto University, specifically introduced the main research fields related to the research field of the school, and focused on the policy of the research institute's open fund declaration and graduate joint training. Professor ISHIKAWA expressed the hope that the two sides will expand and deepen international exchanges and cooperation under the MOU framework. In addition to the current postgraduate training and project cooperation in the field of geological hazards, it is also hoped that the college will increase the opportunities for researchers from other disciplines to visit the Institute of Disaster Prevention of Kyoto University and apply for the international cooperation project of the institute.
Zhao Zhonghu, vice director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Lanzhou University, introduced the current status of internationalization of our school and the measures to enhance internationalization to Professor ISHIKAWA and Associate Professor Wang Gonghui. Zhao Zhonghu also highlighted cooperation in running a university, joint training of graduate students and other issues, and hope that through the efforts of both sides, policies such as mutual recognition of credits will be promoted to promote the progress of comprehensive cooperation between the two universities.
Dr. Zhu Wei, from the College of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, introduced the scientific positioning, instruments, and representative results of the Qingtu Lake Field Science Station to the visitors.
Finally, Professor ISHIKAWA HIROHIKO and Associate Professor Wang Gonghui had a discussion with the participating teachers. Associate Professor Wang Gonghui also shared the latest research results of the earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan with teachers and students in the form of academic reports, and introduced how to find interesting scientific problems from the phenomena and obtain new research results.
